Unique sparkling crystallized pinkish smithsonite in a grouping 3.3 cm in height coming off matrix with yellowish green crystallized mimetite. The specimen has been repaired. This is in excellent condition all around and quite unique. The specimen previously was in the collection of Dawn and Jim and Minette and comes with their label. An analysis was also performed on both species on the specimen and that will be included with the specimen as well. The specimen was figured in a book on smithsonite called Think Zinc.

Smithsonite from the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia formed in the oxidized zone of a large copper lead zinc deposit hosted in dolomite. As primary zinc sulfide minerals weathered, zinc rich solutions produced secondary minerals such as smithsonite. The Tsumeb Mine operated for many decades during the 20th century and became famous for producing a wide variety of rare and colorful minerals.
