Sphalerite on Galena with Dolomite
specimen number:
1114564
location:
Sweetwater mine, Reynolds Co., Missouri, USA
description:
Octahedral crystals of galena to 1.0 cm in size are scattered across the front of this white dolomite crystal covered matrix, then covered completely by micro crystalline sparkling sphalerite. Good examples of crystallized sphalerite are not terribly common from this mining district. There appears to be a layer of chalcopyrite covering the galena, and then the sphalerite upon the chalcopyrite. In great condition.
Size: 8.5 x 5.0 x 2.0 cm (small-cabinet)
