Lustrous crystals of sphalerite measuring to 1.5 cm in size across the top of a crystallized quartz matrix with crystallized chalcopyrite and dolomite. This is in good condition. Barite is present as well. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video. The specimen certainly dates to the 19th century as at one time this was part of the collection of Wilhelm Hoyer. Wilhelm Christoph Hoyer (1826 to 1897) was a German mineral collector in the 19th century known for maintaining an extensive personal mineral collection and regarded as an authority in mineralogy in his region around Oldenburg, Germany.
