description:
Large lustrous twinned crystals of sphalerite measuring to 3.5 cm in size across the top of this quartz crystal matrix. In good condition with very minimal cleaving present. Some of the crystals exhibit translucency. This is an excellent large cabinet example from this old locality. The earliest mining here took place in the 10th and 11th century. By the end of the 19th century mining had declined. This piece dates that latter time period. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video.
