Neat combination piece for this locality, a large blocky lustrous colorless translucent crystal of barite 4.5 cm on edge is studded along one end of a prismatic metallic crystal grouping of stibnite. This is in good condition all around with just slight micro-damage to the stibnite as typical. Aesthetic and complete all around.

The Dahegou Mine, located in Lushi County, Sanmenxia, Henan Province, China, is situated within a structurally complex region characterized by ancient metamorphic basements and Paleozoic-to-Mesozoic tectonic and magmatic activity. The local geology features sedimentary and low-grade metamorphic formations cut by fault zones that served as conduits for hydrothermal fluids. These hot, mineralizing solutions deposited multi-stage vein and replacement ore bodies enriched in antimony and other base metals. While commercial exploration and mining targeted the region for metal resources, the underground workings at Dahegou became recognized by mineral collectors for producing hydrothermal specimens, most notably metallic stibnite crystals often associated with barite, calcite, and secondary alteration products like stibiconite.
