Metallic prismatic crystals of stibnite to 1.5 cm in size across the top of matrix covered with small yellowish tabular gemmy crystals of barite. This is in terrific condition. Classic material for this locality now closed over 20 years ago.

The Baiut mine field (including the Breiner and Varatec sectors) located in Maramures County, Romania, has a documented mining history stretching back centuries, with large-scale industrial operations active through the 20th century until the general closure of the region's mines around 2005. Geologically, the deposit is part of the broader Baia Mare metallogenic district, sitting within an area defined by extensive Neogene volcanic and subvolcanic activity. The mineralization occurs primarily as complex epithermal polymetallic veins hosted in fractured volcanic and sedimentary sequences, rich in base metal sulfides such as galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite, alongside various sulfosalts. Typical from this mine are thick prismatic terminated crystals of steel gray stibnite.
