location:
Upper New Street Quarry, Paterson, New Jersey, USA
description: The Upper New Street Quarry in Paterson, New Jersey was a well known collecting locality in the basalt of the Watchung Mountains. Cavities in the basalt contained many zeolite minerals formed from mineral rich fluids circulating through the rock. Collectors found species such as apophyllite, datolite, prehnite, and several zeolites in these pockets. The quarry became famous among mineral collectors for the variety and quality of minerals found in the basalt cavities.
A choice cluster of lustrous stilbite crystals with very little attached prehnite. This is in very good condition. Nice for this classic old locality.
