description:
Interesting antique reference specimen with micro crystals of stilbite throughout matrix. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video.

Arendal, located in the Agder region of southern Norway, is a classic historic mining and mineral locality with operations dating back to the 17th century. Geologically, the area is situated within the Bamble Sector of the Fennoscandian Shield, characterized by high-grade metamorphic gneisses and amphibolites that were intruded by pegmatites and affected by profound hydrothermal and metasomatic activity. Historically, local mines were heavily exploited for iron ore, copper, and feldspar, playing a vital role in Norway's early industrial economy. Mineralogically, Arendal is globally renowned for its skarn deposits, producing exceptional, museum-quality specimens of epidote, magnetite, garnet, scapolite, and various rare-earth minerals that have fascinated collectors for centuries.
