Tetrahedrite with Chalcopyrite, Galena, Quartz
specimen number:
1801073
location:
Herodsfoot Mine, Lanreath, Menheniot, Cornwall, England, UK
description:
A wonderful Museum sized display example of this classic Cornish material. Large tabular crystals of what could have been barite, now replaced by sparkling crystals of quartz, measuring to 5.5 cm in size cover the top of a 20.0 x 16.0 x 10.0 cm matrix. These in turn, typical for the locality, are mostly covered with crystals of tetrahedrite which are in turn coated with chalcopyrite. Galena is scattered throughout. This is in excellent condition, especially considering the size and age of the piece. Sits perfectly by itself for display. Ex Ed Raines collection.
Size: 20.0 x 16.0 x 10.0 cm (large-cabinet)
