A fine historical specimen showing semi lustrous metallic crystals of tetrahedrite measuring to 0.6 cm in size on matrix with galena. Minimal damage present, considering the age of this piece I think in very good condition. An antique label comes with the specimen as shown at the end of the video, this label notes that the piece was collected around the year 1880 or 1881.

The Neue Hoffnung Mine near Bleialf in the Prum district of Rhineland Palatinate, Germany was part of the Eifel mining region known for lead and zinc deposits hosted in Devonian sedimentary rocks. Mining activity developed mainly during the 19th century when underground workings followed hydrothermal veins containing galena and sphalerite along with other sulfide minerals. The mine included several shafts and levels, including the Richelberger shaft, and contributed to regional metal production during the industrial period. Although mining eventually ceased as deposits were exhausted and economics changed, the locality remains known among collectors for mineral specimens from this historic Eifel mining district.
