Sharp lustrous metallic crystals of tetrahedrite measuring to 1.5 cm in size across the top of a massive pyrite matrix and accented with crystals of gemmy quartz. In good condition. Very choice for the species.

The Casapalca mining district in central Peru is a long established polymetallic mining area located in the Andes east of Lima. Mining began in the 19th century and has continued with modern underground operations producing lead, zinc, silver, and copper from hydrothermal veins in volcanic and sedimentary rocks. The district is well known among collectors for a wide range of mineral specimens. Tetrahedrite occurs at Casapalca as dark metallic crystals and masses, often associated with minerals such as quartz, sphalerite, and galena.
