Geologically, the area is part of the Arunta Inlier, consisting of high-grade metamorphic rocks that underwent complex Proterozoic tectonism and were subsequently intruded by large pegmatite dikes. Mineralogically, these pegmatites and metamorphic formations are renowned for yielding exceptional mineral specimens, including large sheet mica, beryl, garnet, and rare-element minerals that continue to attract geologists and mineral collectors.
