specimen number:
1052494
location:
Tanakami-yama, Otsu, Shiga, Japan
description: According to Mindat, the locality has been mined for centuries for its feldspar for the local ceramic industry. Crystal pockets have been almost completely worked out by local mineral collectors, and many of the dumps are overgrown with forest, so not much of collector interest is left to find here.
A loose glassy gemmy colorless crystal of topaz. Some damage present as seen. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and dates to the very early 20th century. The specimen was originally obtained from the well-known German dealership F. Krantz in Bonn, Germany.
