Richardson in 1922. Initial development at the local Fission (Richardson) mine occurred primarily between 1929 and 1931, with intermittent prospecting, trenching, and brief exploratory operations continuing through the 1940s and the major 1950s uranium boom, though commercial-scale production was short-lived or experimental rather than long-term. Geologically, the area sits within the Central Metasedimentary Belt of the Mesoproterozoic Grenville Province. The local geology is characterized by complexly deformed and metamorphosed Precambrian rocks, including Grenville marbles, granitic gneisses, and pegmatite dikes. These intrusive pegmatites and skarn-like carbonate environments host a famous assemblage of rare-element and radioactive minerals, including uraninite, fluorite, apatite, and zircon, alongside accessory sulfides like pyrite.
Slightly translucent lustrous green terminated crystals of tremolite measuring to 2.8 cm in height coming off matrix. In good condition.
