Brilliant green lustrous crystals of uvarovite to 0.2 cm in size across the top of matrix. Typical of these some contacting present, this still in good condition and very pretty.

The Saranovskii Mine, located in the Gornozavodskii District of Perm Krai, Russia, has been in active operation since its discovery and opening in 1889 (it is still active today, meaning it has no closing date). Initially established as an open-pit operation, it later transitioned to underground mining to extract major commercial chrome reserves. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the ultramafic rocks of the Northern Saranovsky massif on the western slope of the Ural Mountains. The chrome ore bodies occur as a series of subvertical lens-like and tabular chromitite horizons hosted within Proterozoic dunites and harzburgites that have undergone multiple stages of metamorphism, deformation, and faulting. The complex tectonic setting and host ultramafites have also made the locality famous for diverse accessory mineral species, most notably the chromium-bearing green garnet uvarovite.
