Sparkling crystals of micro vanadanite quite rich across the top of this matrix. The crystals measure to 0.3 cm in size. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and dates to the very early 20th century. In good condition, it isn't often one sees vanadinite specimens available from this classic old locality.

Bleiberg in Carinthia, Austria, is a historic lead and zinc mining district that was worked for several centuries before closing in the late 20th century. The deposits occur in carbonate rocks and are part of a Mississippi Valley type mineral system that produced large quantities of galena and sphalerite. The oxidized zones of the deposits also yielded a variety of secondary minerals. Vanadinite occurs at Bleiberg as small hexagonal crystals, typically red to orange red in color, formed by alteration processes in the upper parts of the ore bodies.
