The Pure Potential Mine, historically known as the North Geronimo Mine and located within the Silver District of the Trigo Mountains in La Paz County, Arizona, dates back to its initial claims in the 1880s along the major Red Cloud fault zone. Geologically, the deposit sits within a structural setting where epithermal veins formed along a fault contact separating monzonite and quartz monzonite on the footwall from andesitic and rhyolitic volcanic rocks on the hanging wall, creating extensive breccia zones that allowed intense oxidation and secondary mineral enrichment. Mineralogically, the mine is celebrated for producing world-class mineral specimens, particularly exceptionally sharp, blood-red vanadinite, wulfenite, barrel-shaped mimetite, and striking banded fluorite and calcite assemblages that fluoresce brightly under ultraviolet light. Historically, after decades of minor or dormant activity under early holding companies, the site was restaked as the Pure Potential claim in 1994, transitioning entirely into an active private specimen-mining locality that has since yielded some of Arizona's finest vanadinite and fluorescent mineral matrix pieces.
