The Jeffrey Mine at Asbestos in Quebec, Canada, is a famous asbestos deposit that was worked from the late 19th century until its closure in 2012. The mine exploited a large serpentine hosted deposit and became one of the worlds largest producers of chrysotile asbestos. In addition to industrial minerals, the locality is known among collectors for a variety of rare species found in hydrothermal veins and alteration zones. Wakabayashilite occurs at the Jeffrey Mine as very small crystals and aggregates associated with arsenic rich mineralization. Specimens from the mine are valued for their rarity and the wide range of unusual minerals found at this classic Canadian locality.
