specimen number:

location:
Xiefang Mine, Ruijin Co., Ganzhou, Jiangxi, China
description: A gorgeous large cabinet piece with large thick lustrous blocky crystals of amber colored barite measuring to just under 6.0 cm in size across the top of matrix. Sharp and in great condition. The Xiefang Mine, located in Ruijin County of Jiangxi Province, China, is a notable fluorite and barite deposit situated within the Cathaysian tectonic block. Geologically, the mine consists of hydrothermal vein-type deposits where mineral-rich fluids filled fractures and faults within Upper Cretaceous volcanic and sedimentary rocks. Historically, the mine saw significant development during the late 20th century as part of China's industrial expansion in non-metallic mineral production. While it has functioned as a source of industrial-grade fluorspar, the Xiefang Mine gained international attention in the 2000s and 2010s for the high quality of its cabinet-grade specimens. It remains an active site today.
Size: 17.5 x 12.0 x 7.5 cm (large-cabinet)
