Barite with Chalcopyrite
specimen number:
9062063
location:
Pea Ridge Mine, Washington Co., Missouri, USA
description:
Superb large example showing large freestanding bladed crystals of barite forming a 14.5 x 10.0 x 10.0 cm grouping. Coated with black micro specular hematite crystals, scattered with iridescent chalcopyrite crystals to 0.3 cm. Some damage is seen, this very typical of these. Good large clusters of barite showing such crystals were never terribly common from this old and closed iron mine. Collected in the 1970s. This sits perfectly by itself for display and shows well all around. Shipping weight: 3.47 pounds. Ex Charles Noll collection.
Size: 14.5 x 10.0 x 10.0 cm (cabinet)
