description: The Pea Ridge Mine in Washington County, Missouri, is an iron mine located in the St. Francois Mountains and was developed in the 1950s to exploit a large magnetite rich deposit of Precambrian age. The mine became one of the major iron producers in the region before closing in 2001.
A prismatic terminated lustrous crystal grouping of fluorapatite in great condition. Minor hematite and chalcopyrite present. This is exceptionally large and fine for the species from this long closed locality.
