A fine combination piece with pale bluish bladed crystals of barite across the top of glassy gemmy color zoned crystals of fluorite to 3.0 cm in size. This is in good condition. The specimen comes with a series of previous labels as shown at the end of the video.

The Minerva Mine No 1, located near Cave-in-Rock in Hardin County, Illinois, was a premier producer within the famous Illinois-Kentucky fluorspar district. Discovered in 1940 and operated intermittently until 1996, the facility played a major role in regional mining history by supplying high-grade fluorite, sphalerite, and calcite used in chemical, steel, and ceramic manufacturing. Geologically, the deposits are situated within Mississippian-age sedimentary rocks, primarily limestones, where hydrothermal mineral-rich fluids traveled along faults and fractures, depositing fluorite and associated sulfide minerals as replacement bodies and vein fillings.
