Wonderful yellow green semi lustrous translucent crystals of brazilianite measuring to 6.0 cm in size coming off of a cluster of white blocky albite crystals. The specimen is in terrific condition and makes for a great example for the species.

The Telirio Mine, located in Minas Gerais, Brazil, is part of a region famous for its granitic pegmatites that have produced a wide variety of rare and gem minerals. Mining activity in the area has focused on small scale extraction of pegmatite pockets, where slow cooling and fluid rich conditions allowed for the formation of well developed crystals. The deposit is especially known for its brazilianite, a sodium aluminum phosphate mineral that occurs in these pegmatite environments. Brazilianite from the Telirio Mine typically forms as well defined prismatic crystals with bright yellow to yellow green coloration and good transparency. These crystals are often found in association with quartz, feldspar, and other phosphate minerals within cavities in the pegmatite. Due to their color, clarity, and crystal form, brazilianite specimens from this locality are considered world class and are highly valued by collectors.
