A classic old time 19th century specimen from the city of St. Louis. Two generations of calcite, first-generation brown and iridescent, the second-generation colorless and translucent with good luster to 1.0 cm in size. The specimen from the Philadelphia Academy of Sciences, was donated by noted collector Clarence Bement. In great condition. On the bottom of the specimen is in A.E. Foote label as well as several other labels. It is most likely the specimen is from a quarry now under the city of St. Louis.
