Calcite with Chalcopyrite, Barite, Fluorite
specimen number:
2013155
location:
Pea Ridge Mine, Washington Co., Missouri, USA
description: An incredibly fine cabinet sized example for the species from this important and long closed Missouri locality. Lustrous scalenohedral crystals that are slightly translucent measuring to 8.5 cm in size are set aesthetically up on matrix with small blue crystals of fluorite, bright golden crystals of chalcopyrite, and reddish bladed crystals of barite. This is in excellent condition all around. The color within the calcite crystals is due to inclusions throughout of microscopic chalcopyrite. This would have been collected in the late 1970s or early 1980s. The specimen comes with a previous data card as shown at the end of the video.
