Brilliant lustrous metallic crystal of carrollite 2.0 cm across on a calcite matrix. Slight micro-damage present, this still in very good condition. Minor chalcopyrite present as well.

The Kamoya South II Mine (often referred to as Kamoya Sud II), located in the Kambove district of Haut-Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo, commenced open-pit operations in 1998 through a joint development involving state-owned Gecamines and private partners. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the Central African Copperbelt and is hosted in the Neoproterozoic Katanga Supergroup, specifically within the sediment-packed Roan Group sequences. The local geology features heavily faulted and folded structures characteristic of the Lufilian arc, producing high-grade sediment-hosted copper and cobalt mineralisation. The mine has gained international renown among mineralogists and collectors for producing exceptional, world-class specimens of cobalt-bearing sulfide minerals, most notably large and sharply crystallized carrollite.
