The Hakansboda mine, located in the Lindesberg municipality of Orebro County, Sweden, is a historic copper and cobalt deposit within the Bergslagen ore province. Geologically, the stratabound sulfide mineralization is hosted within calc-silicate rich dolomite and calcite marble beds. Regional metamorphic processes and structural folding remobilized and concentrated the metallic sulfides into lens-shaped and pipe-like bodies rich in chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, and cobaltite. Commercial mining activity at the site began during the seventeenth century, with underground extraction fluctuating through the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to supply copper and cobalt ores. Production occurred intermittently until operations ceased, with the locality later undergoing modern exploration programs in the 1980s. Cobaltite is a sulfide mineral containing cobalt, arsenic, and sulfur. It typically forms in high-temperature hydrothermal veins and contact metamorphic zones, occurring as granular aggregates or as distinct cubic and pyritohedral crystals. The mineral exhibits a metallic luster and ranges in color from silver-white to steel-gray.
