The Navidad mine, situated in the municipality of Indee within the state of Durango, Mexico, is a notable underground mining operation famous for its exceptional fluorite and creedite specimens. Geologically, the deposit is a complex hydrothermal network localized within Tertiary volcanic sequences, where low-temperature, fluorine-rich solutions circulated through fault zones and cavities to precipitate large, vibrant pink and purple fluorite clusters alongside spherical aggregates of translucent creedite. Industrial extraction at the site primarily targeted fluorite for use as a flux in metallurgical manufacturing. Commercial mining operations experienced their highest levels of active development and production from the late twentieth century through the early 2000s, after which formal large-scale industrial extraction slowed, shifting the locality's significance primarily toward specialized mineral recovery.
