Fluorite

specimen number:
2312120

location:
Frisch Gluck adit (Adit 134), Bergmannisch Gluck Mine, Frohnau, Annaberg-Buchholz, Saxony, Germany

description:
Attractive multi-generation fluorite specimen. In great condition.

The Frisch Gluck Adit, also designated as Adit 134, is part of the historic Bergmannisch Gluck Mine situated in the Frohnau district of Annaberg-Buchholz within the Ore Mountains of Saxony, Germany. Historically, the mine was worked intermittently for silver and cobalt during the eighteenth century, with brief periods of renewed activity in the 1830s. Geologically, the site lies within complex metamorphic and gneissic host rock sequences cut by hydrothermal vein systems characteristic of the Annaberg mining region. Modern interest in the adit and associated underground workings stems from hobbyist and specialist recovery efforts that have yielded specimens of zoned yellow fluorite crystals featuring sharp blue and purple phantoms.
