An attractive cluster of translucent purple cubic fluorite crystals, the largest measuring to 4.5 cm on edge. This is in good condition and crystallized naturally all around. From the early 1990s.

The Denton Mine was situated in the Harris Creek Mining Sub-District of the famous Illinois-Kentucky Fluorspar District in Hardin County, Illinois. Geologically, the deposit sits within Paleozoic sedimentary strata affected by faulting and complex hydrothermal activity, hosting rich ore bodies dominated by fluorite along with associated sphalerite, galena, barite, and calcite. Operated by the Ozark-Mahoning Company, the underground mine was sunk to a depth of roughly 640 feet and put into commercial operation in the mid-20th century, ultimately yielding close to one million tons of raw ore before closing permanently in 1994.
