A large cluster of beautiful blue glassy and gemmy crystals of fluorite to 5.0 cm on edge. These are on a crystallized quartz matrix with minor chalcopyrite. Very slight chipping present, this one, I feel, is in great condition. This is really pretty.

The La Viesca Mine, located in the La Collada mining area of Huergo, Siero, within the Asturias region of northern Spain, is a celebrated historic mineral locality. Geologically, the deposit sits within Mesozoic and Paleozoic sedimentary formations, where hydrothermal mineralizing fluids circulated through fractures and deposited extensive fluorite veins and stratabound bodies. Mineralogically, La Viesca is world-famous among collectors for producing exceptional, highly transparent fluorite crystals that frequently display vibrant blue or purple hues, complex zoning, and attractive phantom structures. Historically, commercial mining in the district developed over the course of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries to extract fluorite for industrial uses, eventually transitioning into an important source of world-class aesthetic mineral specimens for museums and private collections.
