Beautiful mostly gemmy pink crystals of octahedral fluorite averaging 0.4 cm in size across the top of a cluster of gemmy lustrous smoky quartz crystals. This is in terrific condition.

Aiguille du Tacul, a dramatic granite peak towering over 3,400 meters in the Mont Blanc massif near Chamonix in Haute-Savoie, France, is a legendary alpine landmark and a world-renowned destination for mountaineering and pocket mineral collecting. Geologically, the mountain is composed of Variscan intrusive granites that were uplifted during the Tertiary alpine orogeny, featuring alpine clefts and fissures formed by intense tectonic activity and hydrothermal circulation. Historically, alpine crystal hunters (locally known as valsaires or cristalliers) have scaled its treacherous rock faces for centuries, harvesting exceptional cabinet specimens of smoky quartz, fluorite, and associated accessory minerals from high-altitude pockets exposed by glacial retreat and weathering.
