While work at this locality is said to be gone around 1820, gold was discovered in 1854 and brought on quite a rush. The heyday for this locality was the 19th century, but the locality was work intermittently up until 1998. This example is particularly rich with bright native gold throughout the quartz rich matrix. Very nice for this historically important locality.
