The American Aggregates Corp. Quarry, located in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, is a long-standing commercial stone quarry operated to supply crushed aggregate for regional infrastructure and construction. Geologically, the quarry is excavated within flat-lying Paleozoic carbonate strata characteristic of the region, specifically Devonian and Silurian limestone and dolostone formations. These rocks frequently feature vugs, cavities, and fossil molds formed by ancient marine deposition and subsequent groundwater alteration.
