The Jersey Vein, located on the 9 Level of the underground Bunker Hill mine in Kellogg, Shoshone County, Idaho, represents an oxidized zone within a polymetallic orogenic deposit. Geologically, the mineralization is hosted within the quartzite units of the Upper Revett Formation, where east-to-northeast striking Galena-Quartz veins intersect regional bedding planes. Intense supergene weathering along structural fault networks oxidized the primary lead-zinc-silver sulfides down to a depth of several hundred meters, precipitating a secondary mineral assembly dominated by pyromorphite and cerussite. While large-scale corporate mining at Bunker Hill spanned from 1885 until primary closure in 1981, specialized lessor operations and specimen extraction along the 9 Level Jersey Vein occurred predominantly between 1984 and 1992.
