Rhodochrosite with Sphalerite, Calcite
specimen number:
1505855
location:
Trepca, Kosovska Mitrovica, Kosovo
description:
Pearly pinkish rhombohedral crystals of rhodochrosite to 0.5 cm in size very thick over the front and sides of this 10.0 x 9.0 x 6.0 cm crystallize sphalerite matrix. The backside is mostly covered with colorless creamy calcite crystals. There is very minimal micro-chipping present, overall I think in very good condition. One area on the sphalerite at lower left is cleaved, but this not so obvious when the piece is displayed as seen. Nice example for this famous mining district. Shipping weight: 1.26 pounds. Ex Renaud Vochten collection.
Size: 10.0 x 9.0 x 6.0 cm (cabinet)
