Siegenite with Chalcopyrite

specimen number:
9201229

location:
Mine La Motte, Madison Co., Missouri, USA

description:
This locality in southeast Missouri was the first official diggings for lead way back in 1720. The specimen shows masses of siegenite very rich across a chalcopyrite rich matrix. Some natural fracturing present, the piece still very stable. This is typical of these. Specimens of this material are rarely seen available on the mineral market today. Good historical piece.
