description: M Fouati in the Republic of the Congo is a historic copper mining area that has seen renewed small scale and artisanal mining activity in recent years. The deposits occur in sedimentary rocks and include copper rich mineralization with well developed oxidized zones.
Very fine light bluish green lustrous and translucent crystallized smithsonite covering the top of matrix. In good condition, an excellent example for the species from this area. The specimen was on public display at the 2026 Tucson Gem and Mineral show.
