The Red Cloud mine, located in the Trigo Mountains of La Paz County, Arizona, is a historic lead and silver mine that was actively worked starting in the late nineteenth century. Geologically, the mine is situated in a fault zone containing irregular veins composed primarily of limonite, hematite, quartz, fluorite, and calcite. This mineral deposit is renowned for producing exceptionally vivid, red-orange tabular wulfenite crystals, which formed within the open pockets of the fault zone.

Ernst August Bottcher was a prominent German natural history dealer active in Berlin during the early twentieth century. Operating the "Naturalien- und Lehrmittel-Anstalt Ernst A. Bottcher" from the historic Bruederstrasse district, he supplied educational institutions and private collectors with teaching collections, scientific equipment, and geologic specimens, including minerals and insects.
