Attractive orange red tabular crystals of wulfenite measuring to 1.2 cm in size on a thin breccia matrix. This is in good condition with just slight micro-damage present. Wulfenite from the Red Cloud Mine in La Paz County, Arizona is among the most famous occurrences of this lead molybdate mineral in the world. The Red Cloud Mine was discovered in the 1870s and worked mainly for silver and lead from oxidized vein deposits hosted in volcanic rocks, with intermittent production into the early 20th century. In the oxidized zone of the deposit, bright red to orange tabular wulfenite crystals formed in open cavities, often associated with galena, cerussite, and other secondary minerals. Although the mine was never a major metal producer, it became legendary among collectors for its exceptionally sharp and vividly colored wulfenite specimens.
