description: The Red Cloud Mine in La Paz County, Arizona, is one of the most famous wulfenite localities in the world and was worked intermittently for lead ore beginning in the late 1800s. The deposit occurs in oxidized lead rich veins in volcanic rocks. The mine is especially known for producing exceptional wulfenite crystals, typically thin tabular plates with bright red to orange red color and high luster. Specimens from the Red Cloud Mine are considered among the finest examples of wulfenite and are highly prized by collectors.
Attractive platy lustrous orange red crystals of wulfenite measuring to 1.5 cm are in size on matrix. Slight damage present, still in good condition and quite pretty.
