description: Baiut is a historical mining village in Maramures County, Romania, with documented mining activities dating back to 1315. Geologically, the area is situated within the volcanic chain of the Eastern Carpathians, featuring complex Neogene volcanic structures and hydrothermal vein systems. These formations host rich polymetallic mineral deposits containing gold, silver, lead, zinc, and copper ores. Large-scale industrial operations continued through centuries of changing regional empires and communist nationalization before commercial mining ultimately ceased around 2009.
Blocky rhombohedral lustrous colorless slightly translucent crystals of dolomite measuring to 3.0 cm in size across the front of matrix. In excellent condition. A very good example for the species and locality.
