The Huanggang Mines, located in Inner Mongolia, China, comprise a major skarn-type deposit known for complex polymetallic mineralization. Historically, commercial extraction developed to exploit the region's rich iron, tin, and zinc reserves. Geologically, the deposits formed through the intrusion of late Paleozoic to Mesozoic granitic magmas into carbonate and sedimentary wall rocks, resulting in extensive skarn alteration. High-temperature hydrothermal fluids circulated through these contact zones, depositing significant ore minerals alongside gangue assemblages that are celebrated by mineral collectors for producing large, sharp crystal specimens of minerals such as ilvaite, magnetite, fluorite, lollingite, arsenopyrite and various silicates.
