Fluorite with Chalcopyrite
specimen number:
9062343
location:
Pea Ridge Mine, Washington Co., Missouri, USA
description:
Very nice old-time specimen from the 1970s with large cubic crystals of fluorite to 3.0 cm on a diagonal covering the top of an 18.0 x 9.0 x 3.0 cm hematite matrix. The fluorite crystals are mostly coated with fine micro crystallized specular hematite, typical of these at this locality. Bright crystals of chalcopyrite to 0.3 cm scattered richly throughout. Some damage present, overall though in very good condition. Where the fluorite crystals are not covered and hematite they show yellow color and translucent. This is really quite good for the species from this long ago closed iron mine. Shipping weight: 2.82 lbs. Ex Charles Noll collection.
Size: 18.0 x 9.0 x 3.0 cm (large-cabinet)
